Defector (Dark)

Political propaganda permeated life in the USSR, extolling the achievements of the “world’s first state of workers and peasants” and defaming its “enemies of socialist construction”. Ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev defected from the Soviet Union to the West in 1961, despite KGB efforts to stop. This was the first defection of a Soviet artist during the Cold War, and it created an international sensation.
